After an opening day loss against AS Monaco, Toulouse regained their footing with an impressive win Saturday over St. Etienne. They continued their strong play with another solid 3-1 away victory against Turkish side Trabzonspor.
Two of Toulouse’s goal were scored by 23-year old sensation André-Pierre Gignac. Gignac now has three goals in three games after scoring 24 goals in Ligue 1 last year. The striker is looking more likely to become a mainstay on the Les Bleus as well, scoring the only goal against the Faroe Islands a few weeks back.
Fodé Mansaré scored Toulouse’s third goal in the 91st minute.
Lille made it a second victory for a French side over a Belgium side with a 2-1 away victory over Genk. Stéphane Dumont and Robert Vittek scored Lille’s goals.
While both Toulouse and Lille were impressive on the road, EA Guingamp wasn’t as lucky, losing at home to Hamburg SV 5-1.
