Brice Taton 1981-2009
As a Toulouse fan, it is sad that I have to report the death of fellow Toulouse supporter Brice Taton, who was the victim of hooligan violence in Belgrade on September 17th, 2009.
As most people know the events of that day, I wish not to go into them (as you can easily look them up on the internet). Instead, I want to commemorate the fan that traveled miles to support Le Tef play in their Champions League match against Partizan Belgrade.
Toulouse FC has also given an official statement on their website:
“Now is the time for contemplation. But when the time comes this explosion of violence outside the sport will be severely punished.
“The Toulouse Football Club will ensure that justice is done for Brice and his family
“The TFC, on behalf of its leaders, its players, its staff, expresses its most sincere condolences.”
In respect to Brice, TFC has dedicated Sunday’s game against Lorient to Brice. In addition, the team is opening the Stadium Municipal today to hold a rally in opposition to violence in sports. Fans off all sports, not just soccer, have been invited by the club to participate in today’s event.
Again, Everything French Soccer and this Toulouse fan, Dave Trotter, send our condolences to Brice’s family and friends.
