More than a million people have viewed a YouTube live stream of a pregnant giraffe awaiting the birth of a baby at an upstate NY animal park.

Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville began streaming Thursday night on YouTube showing April the giraffe preparing to give birth.

"What this has done is pulled an educational tool away from tens of millions of individuals. We were airing in classrooms in Spain yesterday", said Patch. And that's not good for a very pregnant April!

Her keepers were dealing with major outcry Thursday morning after the video was suspended for complaints of nudity and sexual content by animal rights activists.

A new live feed was created later and streaming resumed. "If we want to have these animals left on Earth to appreciate, and understand and to eventually conserve, we need these efforts that we're putting in now", said Patch. She will be kept inside today due to an extreme drop in temperature.

"April's website,, includes a link for buying apparel from baby clothing to adult-sized hoodies imprinted with a giraffe's head and "#Aprils View Crew" along with the park's name and location.

A GoFundMe page set up for April, giraffe father Oliver and their calf has raised more than $23,000 out of a goal of $50,000.
