The footage from the editing bay comes after Aquaman made a rather unceremonious debut in last year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which saw him mostly just stare at a camera while underwater.

After teasing glimpses of a fight scene featuring Ben Affleck's Batman, Justice League director Zack Snyder chose to give fans a brand new look at Jason Momoa's Aquaman from the film.

Although Aquaman has appeared in previous trailers, this is the first times Snyder has highlighted the underwater sequences.

The brief underwater footage was shared by the director through a post on his official Twitter account.

Aptly captioned "Working on my birthday", the video shows a quick glimpse at the underwater world of Aquaman, as well as Jason Momoa swimming in its depths. There are also plenty of coral reefs and other sea creatures in the foreground and background. The upcoming "Justice League" movie is expected to pave the way for Momoa's upcoming "Aquaman" solo film, which is slated to be released in October 2018. The movie will exclusively be focusing on the character's background and his fight with the Ocean Master, to be played by Patrick Wilson.

"Justice League" is the fifth film in the DC Extended Universe series that Snyder kicked off with "Man of Steel" in 2013. While it isn't yet officially mentioned, a report from Coming Soon reveals that the movie is expected to star CiarĂ¡n Hinds as the villain Steppenwolf. We'll have to wait until Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017, to say for certain, though.
